Sembroski’s Generosity seat was donated to a member of the public who won a sweepstakes to win it. According to Time, the contest was won by a buddy of Sembroski’s – the best man at his wedding. After his buddy was unable to attend due to personal circumstances, he decided to pass the ticket on to Sembroski.
“It feels just so, so incredibly gratifying and amazing,” Chris Sembroski told Space.com. I consider myself very fortunate that so much kindness was extended to me in order for this to happen.”

According to Time, Chris claimed he first informed his wife about the possibility when Isaacman phoned and offered it to him. “Sweetheart, I believe we’re going to go ride a rocket,” he calmly said.
He claimed she became quite silent, and he “knew we had more to talk about.”
Erin is a teacher in Washington state, according to the Netflix series Inspiration4. Watching a space shuttle launch was one of their first dates. Erin said that his life objectives and attitude drew her in.
“I need him back safe and sound,” Erin said in an interview with Axios regarding her husband’s trip. So I’m thinking I’ll start rejoicing again once he’s back on the ground.”

Sembroski was a space camp counselor who earned a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. According to Time, he served in the Air Force during the Iraq War and subsequently worked for a company that maintained a fleet of Minuteman missiles. He volunteered with ProSpace, a group that campaigned for laws that would allow private companies like SpaceX to enter the spaceflight industry.
According to Sembroski, training included 60-hour weeks in a simulator as well as seminars at SpaceX’s headquarters. He was required to read briefing materials and participate on conference calls. His company would not allow him to take time off to train, although they did make some adjustments to his schedule. Despite having so much on his plate, Sembroski was determined to continue prioritizing his wife and children.
“Am I truly present and in the moment spending time with them if I am always on my phone or checking email?” he asked Time. When I’m with my family, it’s critical that I’m with them.”
4. He said that his family has been very supportive.
According to the Independent Tribune, Sembroski’s wife and children have always been supportive of him.
He said:
My wife and children are very supportive, and my children are ecstatic. When you speak about flying on a SpaceX rocket, it’s probably not as dangerous as it seems or as many people believe. So there are a number of different things you might do, such as racing your vehicles down the street or anything similar. But, because of the individuals I’ve met and other factors, I have no fears or anxieties about what’s going on, how the training is going, or what they’re going to strap me into.
Erin has been posting on Facebook about collecting money for St. Jude, the organization that SpaceX is sponsoring with their mission.
