In a recent interview, Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen explained the essence of Vikings fans.

Last Sunday, the Detroit Lakes, Minn., native, who is in his ninth season with his hometown club, grabbed his 400th career reception with the Vikings, making him the eighth player in franchise history to do so.
Despite his name being etched in the Vikings’ annals, Thielen feels dissatisfied with his career.
According to Vikings.com, Thielen said, “There are greater things out there.” You simply want to win when you’re in your ninth year. It doesn’t matter to you what it takes. I simply want to win right now, and I don’t care how it occurs.
“There’s more history,” Thielen said, referring to the Vikings’ good but not great past since their previous Super Bowl participation in 1977.
“I understand what it’s like to root for the Vikings. I’m quite aware of how fervently these supporters want it. I understand how getting there and completing the work has proven to be difficult. That is what drives me to be a leader, to want to come to work every day and contribute to our team’s success.”

Thielen Defeats ‘Season is Over’ Doubters
Last week’s overtime defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals put a pall over the Vikings’ fan base, who are wary of the team’s next three games. The Vikings play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3, and the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 of the season.
The lone game in which the Vikings were considered preseason favorites was against the Bengals. Thielen, on the other hand, isn’t out after only one game.
“It’s just one setback. “It’s no different from a defeat in Week 16, 17, or 8,” Thielen remarked during a news conference on Thursday. “It kicks you in the buttocks and tells you, ‘Get your buttocks moving.’ You could concentrate a little more. You’d best pay greater attention to the little stuff. For the next week, you’d better be a bit more prepared.’ It simply goes to demonstrate that it doesn’t matter who you’re competing against. In this league, you have to play well to win.”
Thielen testified to the power of momentum throughout the course of a season. The Vikings, who qualified for the 2017 NFC Championship, began the season 2-2 before winning 11 of their last 12 regular-season games.
“I don’t believe there is ever a game that can make or break a season. “It’s clear that there’s a lot of momentum,” he added. “In this league, you have to be so focused week to week. You don’t have to be concerned about what occurred last week. You don’t have to be concerned about your record since every week is significant.”

The Role of Thielen in Vikings History
After a strong season-opening performance, Thielen surpassed Vikings Ring of Honor member Ahmad Rashad in career catches and touchdowns.
Thielen is seventh all-time in receptions (406) and sixth in career touchdowns after catching nine passes for 92 yards and two scores against the Bengals (41).
Thielen is 11 touchdowns away from matching Anthony Carter for third all-time in receiving touchdowns, a feat he might achieve this season with one extra game.
With eight catches against the Cardinals on Sunday, he can overtake Jake Reed (413 career catches) for sixth all-time in receptions.
